Description 

Black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) colony at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Maggots are kept in covered containers and fed chicken feed; young maggots are visible in the feed and frass, while older maggots turn dark and crawl out, looking for a place to pupate. 15 July 2024
